2016 Housing Market Predictions!

5 HOUSING MARKET PREDICTIONS FOR 2016

A New Year brings new opportunities, and that’s certainly true if you’re looking to sell or buy a home in 2016. What exactly does the year ahead have in store for housing?Industry experts point to a lot of promising signs — moderate increases in prices and sales, the creation of more households, and an improving job market — for the national housing picture in 2016. But the gains won’t look like they have over the past two years, and we’ll see more local housing markets stabilizing in the near future. And that’s a good thing. After the deluge of damaging foreclosures and short sales that flooded U.S. cities during the downturn, a number of housing markets have recovered in a big way in recent years, to the relief of homeowners and economic analysts alike. In 2013, there were 5.09 million existing-home sales nationally, according to the National Association of Realtors. In 2014, sales dropped by 3.1% to 4.93 million. Although final figures for 2015 are not yet available, NAR predicted existing-home sales would close out the year at 5.3 million — nearly 7% higher than the previous year.

Here’s a closer look at five key housing predictions for 2016:
1. RISING RATES WILL SQUEEZE FIRST-TIME HOMEBUYERS MOST
The Fed’s move to increase interest rates in December reflects the major strides the U.S. economy has made as it emerges from the Great Recession. Higher rates (though they haven’t happened yet), along with rising prices and limited supply, will make it harder for some to afford a new home. The good news: Long-term mortgage rates will see only a gradual increase this year and will remain relatively low compared with what they were before the [...]

Adorable in Highland Park!

By |March 16th, 2016|Real Estate Blog|0 Comments|

Well friends…. another fantastic Highland Park listing sold in a little over than a week! This cutie belongs to a dear friend of mine who is finally moving from her perch on the hill to a larger family house (also on a hill!). It was the very first house I ever saw in Los Angeles when I moved here 8 years ago – I even stayed here for 6 weeks while I was renovating my first house in Highland Park (just down the street!). It is on a lovely private drive, quiet and peaceful, you can hear the birds chirping and the breeze blowing through the trees. The views from the front are amazing and the perfect backyard has plenty of sunshine and shade, garden beds and play area plus a spectacular Jacaranda tree in the center that is absolutely stunning in the spring time.

We had six very strong offers and some really wonderful buyers who poured their hearts out in their personal letters to the homeowner – sadly only it can only go to one buyer and we are opening escrow today after much deliberation, so lets take one last look, shall we?

Client Renovations: Jan and Kristen

By |July 17th, 2014|Real Estate Blog|0 Comments|

Lately I have been selling a lot of fixer-uppers to my buyer clients and as scary as it can be at first to buy a house that needs some work – it is one of the greatest accomplishments I can imagine! To transform an old, dated home into your dream oasis – it’s like the ultimate expression of your creative energy and it feels amazing to live in a place that is just your style. Today I am going to feature the incredible transformation of this fantastic Mid Century Modern home in Glassell Park that my clients Jan and Kristen bought only 4 months ago.

This 1950′s home had been in the same family since it was built – SEVEN children were born and raised in this home and their mother was in her 90′s when she passed away. The floors had been covered in carpet for at least 40 years and the wood was beautiful underneath! The bedrooms are enormous and spacious and the view from the back yard is fantastic. Kristen and Jan had the vision and they immediately transformed this worn out home (with great bones) into the perfect Mid Century Modern jewel box it is today! They gave it new life and I am so happy for them and for all the amazing memories they get to have in this home – Congrats again Jan and Kristen!
